There is a story surrounding an apparent name change for Fred Wilson. He was born "Fredrich Milton Weirich", and his famiily lived in Sauk county Wisconsin. The article below hints that there were some nefarious dealings there, and my guess is that Fred, who ended up in Texas, decided a name change could help with a fresh start. Sauk county News Article: To Auction Weirich Property Property of the Jacob Weirich farm is to be disposed of at public auction on Friday by Mrs. Weirich, wife of the leader of Sauk county's theft ring, who is now up in the Portage jail awaiting trial. Weirich was brought to the farm near Baraboo by Sheriff W. P Irons in order that me might assist in preparing the stock for sale and the official took no chance in letting his prisoner escape for he was securely chained to the sheriff. An insurance adjuster visited the farm Wednesday to locate parts of a car on which Weirich's brother had been paid insurance as stolen but which was found buried about the place. The brother, Fred Weirich, left this county ahead of a warrent and is believed to be in Canada.
